CAUTION: I am trying something new on this episode and sharing what’s happening in my life. Get ready for a raw, unedited conversation of what I am working towards and what I am prioritizing right now. This episode is not just about me, I am sharing lessons and mindset shifts I have stumbled upon along the way.
As entrepreneurs, we’re constantly balancing multiple roles—business owner, parent, partner, friend, and everything in between. It’s easy to let our own well-being take a backseat to the demands of work and life. But lately, I’ve been focusing on two things that are making a huge difference in both my personal and professional life: prioritizing my health & self-care and setting boundaries to stay present with my family and focused in my business.
Prioritizing my health & self-care in small pockets of the day
For a long time, I convinced myself that I didn’t have time to focus on my health. There were always emails to send, clients to serve, or something more “urgent” that took priority. But here’s what I’ve learned—you don’t find time, you make time. And even small actions can add up to big changes.
Here’s what’s been working for me:
1. Small Steps Add Up
Instead of focusing on drastic changes, I’ve been making small, sustainable shifts in my daily routine. Whether it’s getting in a quick 15-minute walk, making healthier food choices, or drinking more water, I’ve realized that progress is more important than perfection.
2. Self-Care Doesn’t Have to Be Complicated
Self-care doesn’t have to be an elaborate spa day or a full morning routine (though those are nice too!). Lately, I’ve been finding self-care in the small moments—a quick evening and morning face routine.
3. Shifting My Mindset Around Health & Wellness
Instead of thinking, “I don’t have time for this,” I’ve started asking, “How can I make time for this?” The shift from seeing health as an inconvenience to seeing it as a necessity has changed everything. When I show up for myself first, I can show up better for my business and family.
4. Balancing Business & Health Priorities
One of the biggest struggles I’ve had is making time for movement. I let go of the rigid schedule and instead focus on moving my body with what feels right each day. It could be a trip to the mailbox, a dance session with my girls, or a full on cardio workout. It’s also helped to batch meal prep on Sundays so I have healthy options ready to go when things get busy.
5. How Prioritizing Myself is Making Me a Better Business Owner
Since focusing on my health and self-care, I’ve noticed a huge difference in my energy, productivity, and overall mindset. I’m more present, more creative, and less drained by the end of the day. It’s proof that taking care of yourself is one of the best business strategies out there.
Setting Boundaries to stay present in whatever job you are doing
In addition to focusing on my health, I’ve also been working on setting better boundaries—both in my personal life and in my business. It’s easy to feel like we need to be “on” all the time, but without boundaries, burnout is inevitable.
Here’s how I’ve been improving my work-life balance:
1. Why Boundaries Matter
For a while, I felt like I had to always be available—for clients, social media, and even family. But I realized that without clear boundaries, I was constantly switching between work and life, never fully present in either. Now, I see boundaries as a form of self-respect and business strategy.
2. Staying Present with Family
One thing I’ve been working on is creating phone-free zones when spending time with family. Whether it’s turning off notifications during the weekend or leaving my phone in another room during quality time, these small changes have made a big impact. Being fully present in those moments makes them more meaningful.
3. Staying Focused in Business
On the flip side, when I’m working, I’m working. Instead of getting distracted by personal tasks or checking messages throughout the day, I’ve started time-blocking—setting dedicated focus times for deep work so I can be more productive in less time.
4. Letting Go of Guilt Around Boundaries
Saying “no” used to feel uncomfortable. Whether it was declining a project that didn’t align with my goals or not responding to emails immediately, I felt guilty. But I’ve learned that boundaries aren’t about shutting people out—they’re about protecting my energy so I can show up better in every area of life.
5. How Boundaries Have Improved My Business & Personal Life
Since setting stronger boundaries, I’ve noticed:
✔ More mental clarity—I’m not constantly switching between work and personal life.
✔ Less stress—I’m not overcommitting or stretching myself too thin.
✔ Better relationships—I’m present when I need to be and not distracted by work.
Small shifts = big impact
The biggest lesson I’ve learned? You don’t have to overhaul your entire life overnight. Small, intentional changes can make a huge difference.
